Land-Climate Dynamics Group Celebrates 50 Years of Hydrological Research at Rietholzbach
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Rietholzbach Research Catchment. Established in 1975 by the Laboratory of Hydraulics, Hydrology and Glaciology, ETH Zurich (VAW) under the lead of Prof. Herbert Lang, and later under the supervision of Prof. Atsumu Ohmura, Prof. Christoph Schär, and Prof. Sonia I. Seneviratne (since 2007), the site has become a globally recognized location for long-term environmental monitoring and research, and is in particular known for its large weighing lysimeter.
Oliver Fuhrer appointed as Titular professor
Oliver Fuhrer has been appointed by the ETH board as Titular professor at D-USYS. Oliver is currently a lecturer at ETH Zurich and head of the Department of Numerical Forecasting at the Federal Office of Meteorology and Climatology (MeteoSwiss) and has collaborated with ETH in various roles over many years.
"BREATHE" art project: A journey to the origins of the air we breathe
Where does the air we breathe come from? With his installation "BREATHE" at the ETH main building, artist Khalil Berro questions the shared resource of air. His work is based on calculations from the Atmospheric Dynamics Group at ETH Zurich.
Andreas Prein started as new professor at IAC
Andreas F. Prein has started on 1st September as a Full Professor of High-Resolution Weather and Climate Modeling at the Institute for Atmospheric and Climate Science (IAC) at D-USYS.
