Tina studied meteorology at the Universities of Cologne (DE), Reading (UK), and Purdue University (USA), and received a diploma in Meteorology from the University of Cologne in 1996. She completed her PhD in 2001 at the German Aerospace Center DLR Oberpfaffenhofen/Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, where she used a global coupled chemistry-climate model to investigate interactions between stratospheric ozone hole and climate change. After her first postdoc at DLR, she joined the Atmospheric Chemistry group of Thomas Peter at IAC in 2004, working together with Johannes Staehelin, where she evaluated global chemistry-climate models, and analysed measurement data to study long-term ozone trends. In 2010 she was awarded an SNF Marie Heim-Vögtlin grant to investigate methane emissions and variability using a global Lagrangian transport model at Empa. From 2013-2015 she managed the EU FP7 project BACCHUS in the Atmospheric Physics group of Ulrike Lohmann at IAC. Since June 2016, she has been Executive Director at C2SM.

Interests

I'm interested in the atmospheric sciences, in particular in the modelling of the atmosphere. As Executive Director of C2SM, I am no longer actively pursuing my own research, but I am still involved in different research activities of the center, specifically weather and climate modelling, high performance computing, Swiss climate change scenarios, and connecting weather/climate modelling with impact research. My past research comprised differing research topics such as stratospheric and UTLS ozone trends and variability and the interaction with climate change, atmospheric methane variability and trends, as well as interactions of tropical cyclones with the extratropics and the Saharan Air Layer. As research tools, I used global atmospheric models, meteorological analyses, as well as trace gas measurements.
